ukulele and selfies
Hey!
All is well over here in koutio! soeur Chard and I are
just working a way. Its been starting to get hotter and hotter (this
might be gross to say, but i feel like i sweat soooo much, that means
i am working hard though, right?)
This week soeur Chard and i have been using the ukelele a lot which
has been working out pretty well. We played right outside of mcdonalds
last saturday near a bus stop, no one really talked to us, some people
just stared so we were a little discouraged, not really sure what we
were doing, but this morning we went to do our grocery shopping and
one of the security gaurd stopped us and said "hey! you guys were the
ones playing the music over by mcdonalds the other day right?" and we
said "yah...." kind of worried he was going to tell us that we werent
allowed to do that or something and then he said " that was really
cool, i liked your guy's music" so! playing wasnt for nothing, if
nothing else we made that guys day. Then one day we were wandering
around a neighborhood, trying to just knock on peoples doors seeing if
they woud listen to a song and maybe accept a book of mormon, we
passed by some people outside, asked them if they wanted to hear a
song and they said yes. They were two neighbors, turns out the one
guy, his mom was a member, he had a tooooooon of knowledge about the
gospel. And the other lady she hadnt actually met any members before
but was super curious. Even though the one guy whose mom was a member,
wasnt actually a member himself, he pretty much testified of
everything we were explaining to this other lady. he was talking about
the story of joseph smith and how beautiful it was, he was saying how
the way we pray is different than catholiques but how it is much
better and so on and so on. Long story church, because of this
nonmember who was helping us bear testimony to this other lady, we now
have a new investigator! This lady is really sweet, we are excited to
teach her more. As for the other guy who was bearing testimony, he
said he took misisonary lessons for 25 years, and he just cant quit
smoking, and he doesnt like to leave his house, we asked if we could
pass by but he pretty much told us that he wasnt worth our time. So we
shall see with him, he was funny.
Anyway in other news for the week...mmmmmm things are going good,
Seour Chard and i are having fun trying to share the gospel with as
many people as we can. People here are super friendly and super nice.
Once we contacted a guy on the street and gave him a book of mormon,
and then he said he wanted to take a selfie with us, he held up the
book of mormon in the picture, he was pretty cool, i kind of hope he
ends up posting it somewhere haha.
okayyyyyyyyyy uhmmmmmmm other than that this week i have just been
doing a lot of reflecting on all the missionaries i had met and had
made a difference in my life before i served a mission. Its weird
thinking about all the sisters that had served in our ward and all the
stuff they would do for us and for our family, but now thinking of it
from a missionary perspective myself. We had some really awesome
missionaries in colorado, and i wish i could tell them how great of
examples they were for me in that moment, but especially right now. I
think of their examples and the ways they had supported me to go on a
mission often. If you guys ever see any of the sisters be sure to let
them know how grateful i am for them and that they never know the kind
of effect they can have. I apply some of the same things that i
watched them do to my missionary work here.
