Bonne Anne! Happy New Year!
this week! things have been going so fast! This weekend was rough missionary work wise cause you know everyone is celebrating or partyin or you know are drunk haha but it was good! new years eve we stayed in the house but a member brought us dinner, we had mussles and oysters and caviar and all sorts of yummy food oh and buche, a french cake that is in the shape of a log. I am pretty sure its the same kind of cake that aunt sandrine would make for chirstmas. but yah so you know like normal missionary days we went to bed around 9:30, all was well until exactly at 12:00 tons and tons of fireworks went off all around our house, Soeur Chung Tien was the first one to shoot out of bed, and say "bonne annee" or happy new year. then we watched the fireworks for a couple minutes and then went back to bed. But HAPPY NEW YEAR! its hard to believe its actually 2018!
new story, we have a new investigator that we found at the chapel! we were going to the chapel for a funeral of someone in our ward. We get to the chapel and the members are like hey there is an ami that just right over there for you! So we go talk to this couple from vanuatu, they apparently had been asking around for the chapel and everyone they had asked on the street said they didnt know where this church was, but the wife was determined to find the church, so they woke up and they walked and walked and walked until they found the church! and they found it, and it just happend to be a day that we were there. so the story of this couple, the lady she is a member that was baptised in australia, but her partner isnt a member. He wants to get married but the lady (Linda) she said that she wont get married to someone who is not a member, because she wants to get married in the temple. Anyway it has been a long long time that they have been together without being married because this guys says that he never had the desire to change religions, but now he wants to find the true church and he says he wants to be baptised! so yah! he is awesome, he came to church last sunday, hes been reading the book of mormon and he has really been progressing. So yah one of the miracles that we have seen here in koutio!
in other news hmmmmm oh yah i ate escargot last night, it was really yummy actually, full of butter. also the family sun, where we ate the escargot, frere sun is a return missionary who served his mission here at new caledonia. he had lots of cool stories about missionary life and companions here in new cal when he served here, it was way cool. also he said the first song he learned from an american on the uke was "yesterday" by the beattles haha.
anyway that was my life here in new cal this week! oh also had some exchanges with the sister which were fun, soeur peterson (my mtc companion) and also soeur hansen (a new missionary that just got here) those were fun, its always nice getting to know the other sisters. anyway, life is good all is well. miss you lots and praying for you often
oh! and new years goals, probably, eating less sweets, and having more charity for everyone i see.
love you!
