Just laugh and be happy!

Sisters in our Zone

So this week has gotten so much better! Not necessarily because things have changed a whole lot, but because I have just learned so much about being happy, appreciating the little things, laughing at the hard ones, and most of all just trusting and relying on the Lord.

I think my mission has been the first time that I have really felt a direct blessing for a time that i have been obedient, and its so cool, makes me so happy!

First of all Sunday, we were taking the bus to Church (we either walk or bus most places) and we were waiting there and I turned to my companion, and I said "Hey I want to go talk to that guys over there." She doesn't like contacting, and said that you don't have to talk to everyone) and I said yah but pmg says to talk to everyone, and she gave me more excuses and I argued with her a little bit more and then said if you don't want to you can stay here but I want to go talk to him and she ended up coming with me haha. Thankfully he ended up being really nice, took a pamphlet and said that he would read and then we could come talk to him, although he actually lives in another area so another pair of sisters would be teaching him. I was so grateful that I followed that prompting and asked my companion if we could talk to him, because of that she got more excited about contacting and then planned for the next day for us to do our first porte a porte (knocking doors).

It wasn't super successful at first, and after the first building she wanted to go home, but I said we should just finish this last building. She said okay but you're leading the way, so I knocked on every door in that building and attempted to start the introductions. Once in a conversation, Soeur Bonnet is really social and very natural with people, so she takes it from there. That building was also pretty empty because it was midday, and we had made it up to the very last floor, knocked on one door, nothing, knocked on the second door, and then the previous door opened up. It was a big shirtless Tahitian. I said our little intro and asked if we could share more and he said "Yah of course.", It was just him there so we had a good conversation in the hallway, but turns out he is from the same town as my companion in Tahiti and that some of his family actually is in her same ward, So cooooool!! His family are actually all members so he knows the gospel well, but he was adopted by a family that is Catholic here in New Cal, so he's not a member. We don't think or at least not active. We gave him a Book of Mormon, and will becoming back to teach him. It was super cool, and made me super happy as well. I've come to really appreciate the little things, and when the little things consist of Missonary work, they bring sooooooo much joy.

Things are still difficult. There are things I struggle with everyday but I have learned so much, and already feel like I have been changing. The best thing I have found has just been to laugh at the things that are hard or challenging. I am doing great!

The mission is only about 70 missionaries 40 ,of which are on New Caledonia, and I think here we have about 15 missionaries. The first day the president asked me if I would be willing in the future if need be to go to Vanuatu, and I said yes of course, sooo that's a possibility in the future. I guess haha but we shall see.
